What does 2007 Hold

Teaching and Traveling in Asia is what 2007 holds for me (Gail Casey).
I leave Melbourne with my husband John on 23rd Dec 2006 to travel and teach ESL in Asia. 12 months of learning from others and growing personally & professionally.

I have 12 months leave from teaching at Geelong High School, Victoria, Australia

Where to start? – Thailand then South Korea, then perhaps China!

    Hi Gail and John

I am behind with your news! Someone said you will be teaching in Korea? I visited 4 different Korean schools in 2003 and one school was very advanced with ICT. (Streets ahead of Victoria)

My Asian travel has come to a halt as my husband has changed work company and will no longer be managing safety and environment for 20 Asia/Pacific manufacturing plants.

I would send you a personal email but I do not have your address. So best wishes for your adventure and let me know if you need any contacts. What happens ot the bear (Stanley)?

    Hi Janice,
Great to hear from you. The Korean people are so beautiful in many ways. We love it here. Teaching in Korea is everything that I had hoped for. We are nearly finished our winter camp work and will have a holiday down in JeJu Island in South Korea (a very beautiful resort island, I think) and travel along the south coast. There are many job opportunity in Korea so I shouldn’t have a problem getting a job for perhaps 6 months before going to China.
    Best wishes
    Gail

    Hi Gail,
I was given your Blog from a friend at Vines Rd. Sounds like you are having a fabulous experience and would love to experience teaching English overseas in the near future.
Lester has retired and I am on leave this year. We are doing an Australian caravan trip soon. We are thinking about OS in 2008 or 2009 and would love to hear more about your experiences,
I loved reading your trip details. It sounds fabulous!

    Kindest regards,

    Hi Lynn,
Great to hear from you. We are in China at the moment waiting for another work visa for South Korea.

Our experience of teaching overseas so far has been really wonderful – I can thoroughly recommend it. I completed a TESOL course before I started which was really helpful and one thing they drummed into us was “do your homework” then do some more homework and make sure you double check your homework. (Check out countries and types of contracts/jobs well in advance of committing yourself). It took us a year to prepare before we left and the thorough preparation, I think, has really paid off – we are very happy.

Good luck with the caravan trip, John and I hope to do the caravan trip some time in the future – so keep a diary of all of the tips and tricks for us!
    Best wishes
    Gail
